  • Facilities Maintenance Technician

    Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
    Location: The Emery/Weiner School
    Reports To: Director of Facilities
    Classification: Non-Exempt

    Position Overview
    The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of school buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine and preventative maintenance, responds to work orders and emergencies, and assists with event setup and campus operations throughout the school year and during scheduled breaks.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Performs routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on campus facilities, including classrooms, offices, common areas, and grounds.
    • •Assists with general building repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, flooring, carpentry, and furniture installation or repair.
    • Responds promptly to maintenance requests, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and campus emergencies as directed.
    • Assists with monitoring and basic operation of building systems, including HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems.
    • Performs regular inspections of facilities and reports repair needs or safety issues to the Director of Facilities.
    • Assists with maintaining campus safety by following fire, safety, and emergency procedures and participating in drills and inspections as required.
    • Supports campus events and special functions, including setup, breakdown, and evening or weekend coverage as needed.
    • Assists with deliveries, moving furniture, setting up classrooms and offices, and maintaining storage areas.
    • Performs locker maintenance and repairs and assists with other student-related facility needs as appropriate.
    • Assists with landscaping and grounds maintenance and helps maintain school-owned tools and equipment.
    • Works alongside contracted vendors (cleaning, landscaping, repairs) and reports concerns regarding quality or safety.
    • Maintains cleanliness and organization of maintenance workspaces, tools, and equipment.
    • Follows all safety standards, including OSHA requirements, proper handling of materials, and use of personal protective equipment.
    • Maintains accurate records related to work performed, supplies used, and inspections as required.
    • Supports the Director of Facilities and facilities team with projects, renovations, and seasonal maintenance tasks.
    • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the school.
     
    Qualifications
    • Education and Experience:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • Prior experience in facilities maintenance, building trades, or a related field preferred.
      • Experience working in a school or institutional setting is a plus.
    • Knowledge and Skills:
      • Working knowledge of basic building maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
      • Familiarity with tools, materials, safety practices, and terminology used in building maintenance and trades.
      • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
      • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
      • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
      • Basic computer skills for email, work orders, and recordkeeping.
      • Physical ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and perform manual labor as required for maintenance duties.

    Position Overview
    The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dedicated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable coach to join our Athletics Department. This position is responsible for supporting the growth and development of student-athletes in alignment with the school's mission, emphasizing personal integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement, character development, and a love for sport.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that focus on skill development, team strategy, and physical conditioning appropriate to the age and ability level of student-athletes.
    • Teach and model sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect on and off the field.
    • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment that supports the school’s mission and values.
    • Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, families, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and individual progress.
    • Attend all scheduled games, practices, team meetings, and coaching meetings, including preseason and postseason activities.
    • Collaborate with fellow coaches, athletic trainers, and the Director of Operations to support the overall athletics program.
    • Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
    • Maintain equipment and uniforms and ensure appropriate care and return of school-issued gear.
    • Adhere to school policies, league regulations, and safety guidelines.
     
    Qualifications
    • Prior coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level (preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of the specific sport’s rules, techniques, and strategies.
    • Ability to motivate and support student-athletes of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration.
    • Availability for practices and competitions during after-school hours and occasional weekends.
    • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
    • Must pass all required background checks and complete any mandatory training (as required by the school and applicable athletic associations).
