Clubs & Activities

Clubs at Emery/Weiner are as unique and diverse as our students.

Most Emery clubs are dreamed up, organized, and led by students—often sparked by a shared passion or fresh idea. Starting a new club is simple: team up with a friend, find a faculty advisor, and submit your proposal to the Director of Student Life. Clubs set their own meeting times—during Ma’amad/Kallah, before school, or after school—so there’s always room to get involved.

    Student Government Association (SGA) responsibilities include overseeing program development that supports school spirit as well as supporting the students, faculty, and staff in the Middle School.

  • Upper School Community Service: Tikkun Olam

    In an effort to realize the principles of responsibility, honesty, and respect, and to live in the spirit of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), the Community Service component of the Student Life Program provides opportunities for EWS students, faculty, and staff to work within our own environment and in greater Houston communities.

  • Presidential Awards

    Students who complete 50 - 100 hours or more of community service in a calendar year (middle of April of one year through the middle of April of the following year) may qualify for a Presidential Service Award, depending on their age level.

  • Middle School Clubs

    Middle School clubs are offered during the school day. The purpose of clubs is to supplement the academic offerings at the school and to give students and teachers a means to interact outside the classroom.

  • Upper School Clubs

    Upper School clubs meet at different times, and the frequency of meeting times is established by the club's members. Most clubs meet either at lunch or during Flex Time. All student clubs must be registered with the Upper School Student Government and the Upper School Administration.
