Our Curriculum

Where Curiosity Meets Challenge.

Most schools define “curriculum” as a checklist of classes and syllabi. We don’t.

At Emery, curriculum is everything that shapes a student’s growth—the experiences we plan and guide, wherever they happen. It’s rigorous debate in the classroom, a late-night breakthrough on a robotics project, the grit built on the athletic field, the wonder sparked on stage, the perspective gained on an outdoor trip, and the empathy deepened through service.

Learning here isn’t confined to four walls or a schedule grid. It’s woven into each challenge, every conversation, every opportunity to stretch, discover, and lead. That’s what makes our curriculum as vibrant and dynamic as the students themselves—and why we say Emery/Weiner is anything but typical.

Middle School

Middle School at Emery/Weiner is designed to spark curiosity and build strong thinkers.

Students learn practical skills and strategies that help them question, analyze, and make connections across subjects. Each course is both rigorous and age-appropriate, challenging students academically while honoring their social and emotional growth.

For those eager to go further, our Amplified Learning Program (ALP) offers an additional layer of challenge. ALP classes push students to think critically, explore creatively, and develop the confidence to work with greater independence—helping them stretch beyond the standard curriculum and discover just how far their curiosity can take them.

Upper School

At Emery, Upper School academics are both rigorous and deeply personalized.

Students shape their schedules from a rich mix of college-prep and advanced courses across every discipline. Small class sizes and close relationships with teachers allow each student to be challenged at the right level and supported every step of the way.

Beyond the core subjects, we offer an array of engaging electives—from STEM innovations and world languages to visual and performing arts, humanities seminars, and more—so students can explore their passions or discover entirely new interests.

A built-in study period and individualized guidance from the Head of Upper School and College Counseling ensure that every schedule balances challenge, curiosity, and well-being—preparing students not just for college, but for a lifetime of learning.
