    Working in close partnership with the Head of School, division heads, faculty, and staff, the Fine Arts Director champions the role of the arts in fostering intellectual curiosity, emotional growth, and community connection.     Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the fine arts program across grades 6–12, including visual arts, music, theater, and interdisciplinary creative offerings.

  • Director of Technical Theater (2026-2027 School Year)

    Job Title: Director of Technical Theater
    Location: The Emery/Weiner School
    Reports To: Head of School/Director of Fine Arts
    Start Date: August 2026
     
    The Emery/Weiner School seeks a full-time Director of Technical Theatre for the 2026-2027 school year. The Director of Technical Theater will work as a part of a robust arts team and will provide leadership for the technical direction of some of the school’s curricular and extracurricular productions. This position will also support the wider school community by supervising the technical operations and resources of the performance venues, including lighting, sound, and projection support for events.
     
    The ideal candidate will have a strong technical theatre background with a degree in theatre or commensurate professional experience in the industry. The candidate should believe in developing students as theatre technicians and should have strong theatre management, teaching, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate is an innovative and experienced problem solver, a skillful leader with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and an experienced educator who is eager to invest their artistic and technical skills in the Emery/Weiner School program.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Design and oversee build of scenery, lighting, sound, props, and projections for major productions throughout the school year
    • In collaboration with show directors and fellow technical directors, oversee the design and execution of all technical aspects of all productions
    • Manage pre- and post-production: Work with show directors & tech team to create checklists, plans, and timelines for design, build, and strike for all productions
    • Manage/assist set-up, operation, and maintenance of sound, lighting, and AV equipment for events, assemblies, and concerts
    • Maintain organization of backstage and booth spaces including the scene shop and storage
    • Provide instruction and training to students in the following areas: scenic design and construction, lighting design and rigging, sound design and engineering
    • Mentor and instruct students with an interest in technical theatre including work in the following areas: scenic design and construction, lighting design and rigging, sound design, projection design and realization, stage management and rehearsal etiquette

    • Ability to teach and manage students as they design, use power tools, build, paint, and run technical theater equipment
    • Ability to operate power tools and regularly lift heavy loads

    • A bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre preferred
    • Proficiency/experience in sound, A/V, and other related fields preferred
    • 1 or more years of teaching experience preferred

    The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dynamic, organized, and student-centered Debate Coach to lead and grow its debate program. This full-time position is responsible for coaching competitive debate teams, teaching debate-related courses or electives, and supporting students’ development in critical thinking, public speaking, research, and civic engagement. The Debate Coach will play an integral role in student life and collaborate closely with faculty and administrators to foster a rigorous, inclusive, and inspiring debate culture.
     
    In addition to coaching responsibilities, this position includes teaching, mentoring students, supporting competitions and tournaments (including travel), and participating fully in the life of the school.     Job Summary: The Middle School Learning Support Specialist supports students with documented learning differences by providing intervention; supports teachers in their efforts to foster success for students with varied learning needs within the classroom; works with parents, students, and outside professionals to better support students. 
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Develops solid knowledge of the Curriculum Maps, Scope and Sequence and all other grade-level curriculum in each content area taught, including the essential information, concepts and skills to better support students and assist classroom teachers.
    • Supports differentiated instruction as needed (in content, process, product, and environment).
    • Reviews and interprets psychological and cognitive testing completed by private specialists.
    • Develops strategies to meet the academic needs of identified students.
    • In cooperation with classroom teacher(s), creates an individual accommodation plan for each student with a documented learning difference.
    • Collaborates with teachers in classrooms to help enrich curricular approaches and improve pedagogy to better meet the needs of our students.
    • Communicates with outside specialists attending to students’ needs.
    • Seeks out new and innovative curricula, texts, and technological applications for implementation in our classroom.
    • Remains current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, best practice and the latest research.

    The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collegial Judaic Studies teacher to join our collaborative faculty. Responsibilities for this position include teaching at least five sections of Judaics courses and serving as a homeroom Advisor. Additional responsibilities include participation in student life (e.g. club sponsorship), participation in Jewish Life programming, supervisory duties, and school trip chaperoning/facilitation according to the experience of the candidate and needs of the school. This position may involve teaching Tanach, Rabbinics, Jewish history and/or philosophy, with a focus on how the views of tradition inform aspects of our lives today. The Judaics teacher will also work closely with members of the Judaics department to provide an inspiring and motivational Jewish learning environment.
