Community Wellness

A Culture of Care and Connection

At The Emery/Weiner School, we know that the building blocks of student wellness form the foundation for academic achievement. Our comprehensive 6-12 health programming is grounded in national best practices and informed by the unique and dynamic needs of our community. In support of students' physical, mental, emotional, and social health, we cover topics ranging from nutrition and media literacy to sexual health and effective communication. Wellness programming is delivered through student modules, advisory groups, educator trainings, parent information sessions, and illuminating keynotes made possible by the Boniuk Parenting Partnership Program.

About the Boniuk Parenting Partnership Program

Established with an extraordinary gift from Dr. and Mrs. Milton Boniuk, the mission of Emery/Weiner’s Boniuk Parenting Partnership Program is to promote parent-child development to inspire happier, healthier families. Each year, the Boniuk Parenting Partnership makes it possible for Emery/Weiner to host the country’s leading experts in the fields of student achievement, wellness, and parenting. This unique program allows Emery/Weiner to support our community’s wellness in cutting-edge ways and stay ahead of trends in school health programming.

Counseling

Emery/Weiner’s counselors—Laura Larkin (Upper School) and Jessica Barrientos (Middle School)—are here to support every student’s academic, personal, and social well-being. They meet with students one-on-one or in small groups, collaborate closely each week with teachers and learning specialists, and partner with families and outside professionals to ensure personalized care and meaningful support.

Students can book appointments during the school day, and parents are welcome to connect by phone or join the many parent-education sessions offered throughout the year.

Counseling Updates & Events

For campus wellness updates or dates of upcoming parent education sessions, look out for Counseling Department emails.
We believe it is our responsibility to serve as advocates for our students. We contribute to their development by fostering an environment where our students can pursue opportunities for self expression, personal discovery, and individual accomplishment.
